Written while watching the last light of the sunset disappear in the west, a late, beautiful night in may.

Lights to the west

Lights to the west
this evening
Old sunset
sinking further
down

Weary with
holding up
the heavy nighsky
with its
clouds of
violet
blue
black

Soon to
disappear
behind the
horizon

Nightfall
neverdying

Lights to the west
this evening
Old sunset
sinking further
down

Though;
rest assured
of its return
of its rebirth

In the
morning

Oddly enough, one seldom sees "rest assured" in the bedtime context, making this competely natural usage strikingly original!

this is lovely J. E. It is full of vivid images and soft moods. Beautifully done.
