With a smile

war, terror, fighting and
hatred
sirens, screeching, banging and
screaming
in front, beside, above and
below you

the world
spinning
on the tip of
a knife's blade
around you

yet you

you hear
the ocean's
gentle caresses
of smooth sand

you feel
a light breeze
on your closed eyelids

you taste
the salt of life
on your lips

you see
the rise
of a new morning
on the horizon

with a smile

Thank goodness many of us, on this site, do not live in places where such terrors are an everyday occurrence. But so many in this world do and we have a responsibility to them. But even in our own worlds, which may be gentler, we can only survive and help and grow if we have that inner peace, the thirst for life and belief in a new morning. Your poems really make me stop and think. Thank you.

I meant to say; true meaning.

Another excellent poem from you. I think I must come back to this one and read it again, to maybe catch a glimpse of your meaning with it.
