A small Village in Hampshire "Wherwell" so old and Pretty it has its own internet site.
On a river called the Test
Where cottages are decked in white
As if in sunday best
Fast flows this little river
Not wide or even deep
That laps the backs of gardens
As ducks in sunshine sleep
Tiny wooden bridges, crossover, to and fro
Where we stand and feed the trout
That swim about below
Each cottage has a roof of thatch
And flowers round the lawn
Tended with such love and care
As if from crack of dawn
In the centre stands the village pub
And a church, quite old its said
A little green, where a pound tree stood
Also a monument to their dead
There are Heron, Swans, Ducks and Trout
Its as though time has stood still
I could pass my remaining days here
So peaceful and tranquil.
