Acceptance
A heart in chains shall n'er be freewith hate of all that make it sad
come time to pay the reapers fee
of these small truths I shall be glad
I dwell not on my gains or loss
my thoughts be of some other realm
nor ledgers do I keep of cost
that ship be lost 'alas' no helm.
For as I ponder times now past
I rue not all with sad regret
my demons they be rid outcast
replaced by angels that I met
of life bizarre lived fast in sin
the child a man before his time
my face at last shows peace within
cast ye the stone unknown to crime.
For as I reflect with honesty
all that be of my life bereft
and know in truth with all I be
that peace be earned and not a gift
and not seek other souls to blame
for fear of demons and their wrath
forever elusive of my shame
that ghost still haunts my twisted path.
To feel at last a peace unknown
as on my face a tear I cry
to know I reaped those seeds long sown
my destiny how e're I try
to feel tranquillity at last
In knowing unto myself be true
no demons I see on my path
As you my friend's I bid a adieu.
Brendan.
