Escaping Eros
You are to me a web of mysteryA complex tapestry of woven dreams
And though germane to what is truly thee
I am alas confused, lost in your reams.
Perplexity invades my cautious mind
I see words jumbled in a tangled maze
Obscure, familiar, derisive, and unkind
Yet in them I detect an honest phrase.
You say that I am lost to honesty
And am in fear that you may see my face
Elusive in all that pertains to me
Unknowing that elusiveness has it's place.
For If I were to bear to you my all
Remove the mask revealing scars of shame
Perhaps in love with you I may then fall
And I would once more know of Dante's flame
Brendan.
