this poem was written in Spain on the Costa de Luz and describes the penchant of european adders to use swimming pool pump rooms as hibernation pits during the winter months
By M.A.Meddings.
After all, it was only a pool,
left empty and bare,
to November rain.
Yet in Summer,
hot Spanish skies,
it was alive,
with sun tanned adornment,
In holiday mood.
All gone now.
Stragglers remain.
Leaving the peace,
to maintenance crews,
dark pump rooms,
and comatose snakes.
