Collections of beauty

She came to me on whispered breeze in the autumn of my years
And touched my soul with tenderness and care
She lifted me as would a child and kissed my salted tears
And said it's time to go I'll take you there
But first we must be rid of all those things that make you sad
Those memories worn like weighted chains
We must renew those cherished hopes that once made you so glad
Those dreams that once filled all your happy days
We must collect like flowers all those happy times you knew
Their memories scent lost in the mists of time
Tell me where the flowers are and I shall bring them all to you
Collections of a beauty so sublime

I have memories in my mind of forests oh so green
And mountains so majestic in their awe
Of standing solitary on a peak as in a dream
In wonder of everything I saw
I have memories in my mind of a closeness to all things
A time when I was at one with it all
A feeling of a presence from within that made me sing
As into understanding I did fall
I see a child by a fire sat on his mothers knee
His heart so full of love of bosom near
A song so soft and gentle singing words to bring him glee
You are everything to me my child so dear

I see a man with smile so broad and open in it's play
In the knowing that at last he'd come of age
No more the crown of kings would he seek ere from that day
No more those feelings of mistrust and rage
I see through misted eyes a flower in bloom with petals free
An angels haunting beauty on her face
With eyes of love that all men should once in their lifetime see
My seed that grew to elegance and grace
And now the man of aged years lifts eyes up to sky
In the knowing of those things to him be true
His chalice full to the brim to bring a joyous cry
Collections of beauty he once knew.
