Love
I am cognisant with the emotion known as loveI am aware of it's sad intricate fatal charm
I oft' perused it as an eagle would a dove
In fear it may my defences me disarm
I see love in all it's myriad complex form
An ethereal mystical spiritual surge of light
A calm within a violent turbulent storm
It's confines not the prerogative of the night
Love oft' brings to my heart a sense of shame
Shedding tears deep as ocean's in it's loss
Knowing in indifference I am in truth to blame
My coffers bulge with sorrow such great cost
Love be intangible to touch or feel
An elusive evasive picture in my mind
Yet in it's fleeting glimpse my tears are real
Chastising in reproach I be so blind
Love is ever unconditional in it's gift
It dwells within us all ere young or old
It's seed will grow to our spirit oft times lift
A candle in a landscape barren cold
Do not confuse love with some other thought
Like accolades or wealth or words sublime
Even beauty in it's wither is worth nought
Surpassed by love that knows not passing time
Love is pervasive in it's depth and pace
Possessing wings invisible in flight
Joyous to be seen in my child's face
It's memory bringing warmth to my cold night
Love is a heart silent in it's pain
A welling of the tear ducts in my eyes
Rolling down my face like salty rain
As in my minds ear her once gleeful cries
Why is love to me the saddest song
Why so blind to love once given me
Why do I know love only when it's gone
Shall I ever be of loves sweet pain set free
