Brown in the summer from sun and dirt
Blonde hair bobbed but untamed, though pert
Deep brown eyes, sparked with an impish glint
The pretty little devil was Heaven sent

Little sister Kathy liked to torment me
Wherever she was, I didn't want to be
She derived great pleasure from my frustration
She was the source of it, to her elation

By the time we were grown, we were best of friend
One of us begins where the other one ends
She grew in beauty and grace, and talents unmeasured
And in my heart of hearts, she is loved and treasured.

On this her birthday I want to say, "celebrate"
You deserve all good things, on this hallowed date
You are good and kind and pretty and smart
And I'm glad that little imp still resides in your heart

When Sprites Giggled

Did you see the nymphs there,
Just before the faeries danced
Loudly along a certain pathway,
Looking through a tube? I did,
During the dog days of summer,
So long ago.

The shadows of the mushrooms
Were particularly inviting. Cool
Was the absolute ruler of invention,
As the bodies piled up, grinning alone
On beaches & paths through wooded
Wonderlands.

Genesis! A sprite was born,
A pixie for us all to adore; and,
On this day of daze, this ancient
Drug, this old egg thief wishes her
Happiness, health, and prosperity,
Evermore.
