Jandillas in the Afternoon part Two by M.A.Meddings
'Excuse me Signora do you speak English'
'No signor do you speak Spanish and it's
Signorita if you please - what do you want '
The crowd burst into laughter and I blushed
But I wouldnt be rushed - couldnt be crushed
I wanted a ticket
I pointed at the detailed plan of seating arrangements
Sol y Sombre Tendido fila six
'Twenty nine euros signor just one seat is it'?
I nodded my approval and payed the going rate
One more ticket tout would have to wait for another client
No ticket for me on the barrerra at a bargain price
A guy behind me waiting in line took the time to pat my back
Gracias A la Vieda signor - not knowing quite why Ii replied
Gacias signor y signorita buonos Tardes and left just as the girl replied
Enjoy the fight signor dont be late
The crowd burst into good natured laughter and I was happy
Delighted with my trade at Malaga
At five thirty with the temperature at thirty five degrees
With the benefit of the sea breeze I called for another brandy
And watched the taquilla close from across the street
Really rather neat this Bodega that sold rivers of brandy from the cask
Just across the the Avida from the Plane tree shaded Plaza De Toros
In there one loses ones worries after time as did I relaxed in style
A moustached voyeur at the table next to ine who drank brandy with
That certain style of a man who knew the best and unashamedly undressed
Every female that passed with his eyes And
Judging by the many kisses and hugs he received from fan waiving ladies
He was well known for the fun he brought - enquired
From where I obtained my ticket
Signor it is good you buy from the Taquilla
Do not buy from touts unless in an emergency
And never from gypsies not here in Malaga
In Spain there are many gypsies.
There are good gypsies and there are bad gypsies
But in Malaga there are only bad gypsies
I heeded his words then laughed with him as I followed
The nod of his head and his winked eye as a Signorita
In a low cut gown that took the mind off brandy and bullfights
Passed along the street such that both he and I
Our eyes transfixed - followed every delightful oscillation of her buttocks
Gracious A La Vieda Signor he said and raised his glass
It indeed was good to be alive - soon the killing would begin
