lover.
A Cat's Life - My Nine Lives
Nine lives.
The first was my
Childhood,
But I died,
When you died,
My life wiped away
With your blood.
My second
Was being a
Naughty schoolgirl,
Tomboy to sexpot,
Causing angst,
And horror.
A third life
Began in an
Ancient country,
Embracing the world,
Amazed by the new,
But too young,
To judge.
Swept away by
Your hypnotic eyes
And urgent touch,
I bore you my son,
And you used him,
To blackmail me,
With your
Ever-present,
Rage.
My fourth began
Back in England again,
Escaping your spit and scorn.
I started once more.
The fifth was nursing you,
Till you rose again.
Four years I gave you
With no regrets.
At last caring for
The only one,
Who had cared for me.
But you wanted
Not to be a burden,
And found immortality.
My sixth was
Struggling alone,
After you had gone,
Supposed to take charge,
Supposed to remain,
All alone again.
Fighting to pay for life,
Fighting to survive.
And now the seventh
Began with you.
A meeting tricked
By fate,
A soulmate
For all seasons.
Your soft lips,
Always smiling.
Each slice of life,
Shared with you,
As sumptuous
As your Grannie's
Chocolate
Cake.
I still have two more,
In reserve,
Like good, oaked wines.
We shall see,
If I'm a cat or not,
If nine lives
Have been given me.
