The Way by M.A.Meddings
You came to me in your silence that was right
And we kissed that long lingering kiss
The way that lovers do
Tentatively at first
Looking into each others eyes
Catching the thrill
The slight surprize of how your beauty
Took me to another level
The anticipated touching of lips precluded by
Tender nose rubbing
'smooching' the way Eskimos do
Is this really you standing before me
Serenity in blue jeans
And we hardly in our teens
Yet the heart stopping thrill
As we linger still
At the edge of entrallment
Longing to pass beyond the moment
Wanting lips to touch
Yet afraid to spoil the purity
Maybe if we close our eyes
The way
We always dreamed it would be
You and me momentarily frozen
Before the fire begins
Isn't that the way
The way that lovers choose
Just before they enter paradise
