Reading this ancient proverb "If you wish to know the mind of a man, listen to his words" got me to thinking and writing about the spoken and our written word (s) that eventually becomes our works on Poetbay.
Ancient Chinese Proverb: If you wish to know the mind of a man, listen to his words.
Words spoken tenderly
To a loved one or friend
If inspirational and beautiful
A broken heart; they can mend
Words viciously screamed
With you as the unfortunate goal
Are like dull arrows piecing
The heart and then the soul
The gurgling noises of young babies
Nonsensical and absurd
Are cherished by their mothers
Understanding every word?
Words softly whispered in the twilight
By young lovers are thought best
Though only through time it self
Can they be seen to pass the test?
Words uttered by a politician
With sincerity laced and bound
Are promises floating in the wind?
The basis hardly ever sound
If you wish to know
The mind of a man
Listen to his words
The words of aspiring poets
Written in their own blood
With tears and fears throughout the years
Will like a torrent flood
Some words maybe quite profound
To interpret others a bizarre task
But our words are there for all to enjoy
To be read is all we ask
