FIST CLENCHED

Fist in the air clenched tight.
Head bowed.
My eyes closed to the world.
Waiting now.
Arm numb from abused veins.
Yet, enjoying the pain.
Heart racing motor needs repair.
Mind full of hopeless despair.
Slowly my arm hangs mutely.
Heart calmer but lurching.
Who could dare refute me?
Automated response I have no control.
Mind a twisted maze leading nowhere.
Who is there in me to know?
I, my mind lives here.
Sometimes alone.
Never lacking knowledge.
A gift given to me.
A beautiful memory.
Using pure energy.
Awake each day,
to live and learn.
Awake every second,
Subconsciously recording
Each moment in vivid detail.
To recall later upon request.
The interrogations begin again.
Do you see?
Knowledge comes with a price.
God knows,
how much it has cost me.
