From Spring to Summer

The sunshine through the trees brings me to my knees
in remembrance of those lazy spring days we spent together
swinging like lovers in your hammock.
I knew it was over the day the strings broke;
they seemed to represent what bound us
but they disintegrated.
Maybe it wasn't the sunshine at all,
but an illusion of something that lit the sky.
You broke me like you broke the swing,
and now i can't dwell on emotion.
Apathy runs through my veins like the sun through the trees.
And i am forgotten, as the summer forgets the spring.
