When I was a boy of 16 and apt to show off to girls, like a thundering idiot I jumped from this Bridge into the River Severn and shot the rapids on Seckly wood. As you see I did not drown.
A Beautiful View From The Bridge by M.A.Meddings
I have alway been a Tom Fool
Apt to drool over pretty girls
But it is no accident
I came to such as this
For long ago a pretty miss
Took my eye I dont know why
Maybe it was her smile
Or the exciting beguile
Of her developing breasts
Something apt to test my resistance
For upon her innocent
Unspoken insistance
Before supper at Upper Arley
I demonstrated my absolute
Penchant for buffoonery
Youthful bravoirdise
No braggard I
But just try and dare me
And you would see my daredevil nature
Even then in my fledgling years
I brought my mother tears of anger
And tears of laughter
In every chapter of my existance
But on A particular day
A hot summer's afternoon
I became the arch buffoon
'Twas my only claim to fame
To try and win the dame
A winsome lass of upper class
With a tip tilted nose and smart sunday clothes
Whilst I in bluecoat tie and jeans
So tight at the seams they split
And displayed my fledgling manhood
To the assembled bevvy of beaties
Thus without any fuss
And a gently push form my cousin
I took her dare this beaty rare
That I wouldnt jump from the bridge
Thus showing off as boys might do
I took to the rails straight and true
Then observed the view from the bridge
As the girls laughed with a glee so soft
I held my breath and jumped
Just like a stone from a hand might go
I plummeted into the depths below
And in more than a jot aptly I shot
The rapids in Seckly wood
As any bravado would
To impress a lady
Neath the green wood shady
And in my lifes fall I do recall
Open necklines
Developing breasts so fine
And the beautiful view from the bridge
