Very Personal...
through dusty roads and brick red bylanes
through run-down carriages and musty bookstores
through shacks and shanties
where the beggar's child
looks wistfully at a piece of bread.
Wipe away that tear now.
More tears have been shed before
and more will be shed after.
Moments will pass and grow anew
Songbirds will sing afresh
Give me life again
through coloured walls and windowpanes
through balloons and marbles and buttercups
that will make me want to
sing again.

Song of the Road
Smell the earth againthrough dusty roads and brick red bylanes
through run-down carriages and musty bookstores
through shacks and shanties
where the beggar's child
looks wistfully at a piece of bread.
Wipe away that tear now.
More tears have been shed before
and more will be shed after.
Moments will pass and grow anew
Songbirds will sing afresh
Give me life again

through balloons and marbles and buttercups
that will make me want to
sing again.
