For mothers,
A lament.

To Lose a Child

Oh God!
To lose a
Child.

The slaying
Of your firstborn,
Too unbearable
To carry.

A mother's
Grief,
Has no fathom.

A father's
Desolation,
No end.

A brother's
Searing loss,
Burnt into
His reflection.

Every mother's
Worst nightmare,
Come true.

Dashing her
Heart out,
On the rocks
Of his death.

A powerful lament indeed! The last stanza is just awfully effective...

oh this is so close to my heart. I haven't lost a child but my sister lost two grandchildren, a daughter n law and my nephew lost his 2 children and his wife by a murderer's hands in a nightmare night that never ends.
