A Single Tear.

If the world ran out of words
Would a child be seen not heard
Would you hear a single tear
Just as it falls

Could you hear the crackling leaf
However distant as its brief
Could you hear a single tear
Just as it falls

There are those that scream and shout
They just have to let it out
But could you hear a single tear
Just as it falls

If the world ran out of words
I know it sounds absurd
But would you listen for tear
Just as it falls.

'If the world ran out of words' ...
What would that do to poets?
... perhaps make 'em cry.

Very beautiful poem!

such compassionate caring and insight into the silence of the single tear can only come from one who has experienced the loss, the pain, the longing, the heart of a single tear. There truly is might in one drop; it changes the face of the world as it splashes into the depths of the oceans of living.
Beautifully written Graham. Kathy

Could silence be more golden
than to let us hear a tear?

But even this poem's beautiful thought won't make us poets give up on words!

Beautiful words, and sadly, I think, not many would hear a tear
