Wrote this after New Orleans was flooded out.

Like Dogs

"Stop treating us
Like
Dogs!"
Said the
Refugee from
The storm.

"Why are they
Treating us like
Animals?"

She cried,
And cried.
No water,
No help,
No food,
No shelter.

But no one
Understood,
That this
Crisis,
Was the size
Of England.

Imagine Albion,
Submerged.

What then?
How can you
Save the dales,
Lift the crofters
From their cottages?
Watch as Cornwall
Is washed away?

Sheep and cows,
Slaughtered,
By an angry
Mother Nature.

The Barrier
Of London,
Burst.

This green and
Pleasant land,
Turned to sludge?

What then?
Would we be
So quick to judge?

If the survivors
From the flood,
Were us?

Zoya Zaidi
This is so compassionate heart-felt slice of truth...
I feel very strongly about the apathy of the authorities towards the forgotten, neglected, taken for granted sections of the society... It fills me with anger and anguish for the poor people who suffer helplessly, first the disaster, then the lack of relief work and its repurcussions...
((((hugs for your compassionate heart))))
