He was never really given a fair chance!
As for me, I am rather often uneasy in my mind, because I think that my life has not been calm enough; all those bitter disappointments, adversities, changes keep me from developing fully and naturally in my artistic career."
*~Vincent van Gogh~*
16 June 1889
Before he was an artist...
With the desire in his heart
to preach the gospel,
Vincent struggled with words
to deliver a forceful sermon.
He inherited his father's diluted
sense of Verbal power behind
the pulpit. Yet he gave all he had to give
to comfort hard working miners
who were so impoverished that they and their families were starving. His church punished him for having such a kind heart and made him leave his post at the miner's village.
*****************************
*~KIND HEARTED SOUL~*
His heart cried out
for those in pain
less fortunate
black
coal
stained
Keepers of the mines
digging to make other men rich
that
preverbal ditch
graves for impoverished souls
Vincent comforted the meek
prayed for them
to
be made whole
Watching them starve
and their children die
He gave them all he had
His food
His wine
The clothes from his back
to keep them warm
and by the church that sent him
He was scorned
Punished for his compassion
and lack of self
The church forced him to leave
because
he
wanted
to
help.
