as i landed on mine my brother and his wife left to visit theirs.
i'm guarding their pearl puppy :)

Pearl Islands

Swooshing along on high
Enjoying viewing my first real clouds
For years from above-
They bubble and haze as a
White rain forest canopy
White florets brassica-
Showing some untrodden artistry.
Giving glimpses of earth along the way
That changes from sparseness to lushness.

A bowl of frightening blue sea is passed safely
Then there it is!
My birthplace.
With its evergreens hurtfully
Attacking my grey eyes
So used to seeing blueness.

Tonight stood on the step
Of my beloved family
The city lights keep darkness at bay
Hides the stars behind a pearl opalescence
That highlights the looming tall tree
That dances as a Medusa on a cool breeze.

Here on a step in England
Keeping a happy hand
On a silken canine ear
We step inside together to see
If our beloveds
Have landed on their pearl island
On this their pearl day of togetherness.

These are diamond days for me.

I'm in loopy mode at present as I am off for an escape break on Friday and missed this - I always find returns have a kind of bittersweetness about them - you still connect, yet not really - Anyhow I enjoye stroking those silky ears - one thing I miss when I am away is my mutt - oh and of course my sons - oops!
