For some time stands still.
I met a man quite old I'd say
He sat there staring out to sea
I wondered if he'd talk to me
I said "Hello" he did'nt hear
His face looked sad and full of fear
His gaze was glassy , faraway
Looking out beyond the bay
And then he turned and looked at me
The tears were flowing endlessly
The sea is vast and grey, and bare
I've lost a son, he's still out there
I said" I'm sure he'll turn up soon
But still he stared beyond the boom
"There's not much chance of that you see"
His ship went down in 73.

The Old Man On The Shore.
While walking by the shore todayI met a man quite old I'd say
He sat there staring out to sea
I wondered if he'd talk to me
I said "Hello" he did'nt hear
His face looked sad and full of fear
His gaze was glassy , faraway
Looking out beyond the bay
And then he turned and looked at me
The tears were flowing endlessly
The sea is vast and grey, and bare
I've lost a son, he's still out there
I said" I'm sure he'll turn up soon
But still he stared beyond the boom
"There's not much chance of that you see"
His ship went down in 73.
