overwhelmed
for various reasons.
such as men
with sandy eyes
that glint in the dark
and kisses
that leave scars
where others
can see them burn
or liars
flinging back
ruby-red pieces
of my heart
even as they flee
and emeralds
glinting green
in the fall
deep in the midwest
where grief
takes over
paints the trees red
then strips them bare
