There's been a lot of drownings
in the paper. A wife lost her husband
and two boys to rough sea, and two toddlers
lost in a backyard pool, and this
is a poem for those families. It just
came to me unbidded.
~L.~
Aqua-green glass so still,
Merging into horizon of blue,
Clouds so still, do they move at all?
Ripples of disturbia where the raindrops fall.
Losing track of time, sitting on this pier,
Grief - consumed, have no idea how long I've been here,
But you are a rainbow at worlds-end,
And in another life I know we'll meet again.
