To the children of the road
I met a man aside the road and shook his outstretched handHe said he came from far off Innisfree
His boots were worn and round his head a multicoloured band
He smiled his smile reminding me of me
He said he'd lost his way on the road to Xanadu
Or Shangri La or other mystic dream
And I recalled those magic lands brought to mind anew
Those endless paths of many varied themes
I told him that the road was long with difficult terrain
And loneliness would ever be his friend
For I know well those barren looks of envious distain
As I once them forsook to nature blend
And in the telling of these things I did a truth now share
A passing thought I bid to you relate
If within your heart for mother nature now a prayer
You too shall overcome and as is your faith.
Brendan.
