For all returning soldiers.

Back in Blighty II

BACK IN BLIGHTY II

The soldiers
Touched down,
Their Herculean task,
Fulfilled.

Still wearing
Their olive-branch-
-of-peace
Coloured
Khakis.

They stepped back
Into the English drizzle,
Back from the drought,
The dust of the desert,
Back from the
Afghan
Front.

Anointed
By soft rain,
Home again!
Home again!

Back in Blighty.

Good poem Esti....
And aren't we all glad they made it home...
But I can't help thinking about those who will never return...

What a world we live in !!!

the terrain, everything is so alien - it is a war fought that can't be fought - may all our soldiers return safely

Sadly we have lost another young soldier from the local regiment this past week. Barely 20 years old.
