Atlantic Wind

Your words on tender wings
dance in the wind
elusively across the distance
and will not die in the fall
will seed the space
we narrow without love
and dissolve the walls
that would have lain between us
always, otherwise.

Here, now, the leaves are almost tears
after flaring and flowering so fully;
failing in August,
rusting by degrees,
to break the heart that contends
to live beyond the tenderness
of life shaken free too soon

And, vulnerable as the leaf
as eyes wet with tears
the heart that spends so freely
knows too well the fragile flutter,
the all too brief petals of love
and seeks to be carried
on the breeze
of always.

atlantic winds are cold, love can turn cold but can be warmed in it's season. This is really beautifully written in thoughts stringed on leaves that blossomed in their season and now winged thoughts carry questions and longing of the heart.
