a true story about my beloved hometown

Longing for the River

As a child

I loved the river

broad and beautiful

reflecting the surroundings

like a mirror

When I grew older

I swam towards the sea,

to the rivers mouth

arriving at a world

full of opportunities

Now, that I am old

The river seems to have

grown smaller

Yet there I walk

to meet with memories

Rivers can take us to many banks of what was and now is. Thanks so much for sharing with us your reflective ponderings.
