language is like skin

it stretches
bulges
grows
dies
all at the same time

sometimes
skin develops nasty surprises
like boils and hair
and try all you like – you can't get rid of it

you can only cover it up
or pretend it isn't there

or you can reason that boils and hair are a part of life
and that it's best
not to become fixated

skin and language tell you a lot about the person
whether they like it or not

easily prejudiced
often beautiful
usually ugly

always changing
