Where we are headed

I'm letting our past slip through my fingers
And our moments turn into dust
And frankly I couldn't care less
Since there is nothing left of us

Behold the future we scattered
With our dreams and fantasies
Behold, something that becomes nothing
As we are parting like leaves on the trees

Maybe we could blame it on the distance
We could even blame it on time
But truth is this is our own choice
As we are now looking back on our lives

I know that I could have done more
I know that it still isn't too late
But to me the value of this relationship
Has almost become insignificant
I use such hard words I know
But what is the meaning of this
if it is just for show?

So this is where we are headed
This is how it'll be
If I promise to keep a part of you
Will you cling to a memory of me?

So this is where we are stranded
Washed up on different shores by the tide
I am not wishing this undone
Because in spite of the end, it was a hell of a ride

I'm letting our past slip through my fingers
And our moments turn into dust
Frankly I couldn't care less
Since there is nothing left of us
