A modern take on an Aesop fable!
Androcles and the Lion (PC)
A long night of paperwork, after a days judications
Removes his lions crest medallion and his ruminations
Says "Good evening" to the night man, books in hand
To his car, the walk, of an important man
A thief cold and hungry stands out in the street
Spies the red robed man, shiny shoes on his feet
Images of a bulging wallet enter his mind
Broken by footsteps following close behind....
He ducks into the shadows, swift in evasion
Two young lads appear, of similar persuasion
They've decided the judge and his wallet will part
Didn't count on the thief hidden there in the dark
With an old baseball bat from a rubbish stack
He attacks from behind with a solid "WHACK WHACK!"
The two would be robbers fall to the ground
The judge crouched by his car, makes a grateful sound
Face to face, judge and thief, nerves fairly shaken,
"I thought this street was safe but I was mistaken!"
The thief hears his words, though guilty and nervous
"I hope one day I can repay you this kind service"
Sometime later in court, a face comes to the stand
The judge sees something familiar in this shell of a man
Says the barrister, "At least three counts of burglary"
Glasses perched on his nose, the judge says "I see.......
But the evidence here council, is fairly thin"
And flashes the thief a knowing wink and a grin...
"With no witnesses here, I rule, it is fair to say...
Mr Androcles has found justice, he may walk today!"
