In memory of an angel dedicated to his brother CP

For Tommy

The boy was made an angel
but sent to earth for a day
he lived his life, an earthly life
giving his heart away

For a day for an angel
is a lifetime in a place of pain
where goodness is trashed
and sadness lasts again and again

His wings once white and full
molted and wasted to gray
covered in the sins of many
who looked down on him in dismay

For a day for an angel
is a lifetime in a place of pain
where gentleness is lost
as garbage is tossed amongst the vain

While his spirit grew weary
He could no longer fly away
So he plunged into the cold river
to find his home to live another day

For a day for an angel
is a lifetime in a place of pain
where beauty is bashed
and so often lashed with nothing more to gain

Ah, the little angel!
This is like a song. Is there a tune to it?
Such a wonderful poem!

This is a wonderful write for a little boy. It makes me wonder just what happened to him and exactly who he is. Some poems just affect this way, while others we read and wonder why the author bothered to even write them at all.
Excellent my dear friend simply excellent!

An incredible story and such truth in the lines regarding a day in the life of an angel here on earth. Beautifully sad story, told tenderly and honestly with great respect.

Such emotive expression. Alas, after such events life is never the same.
