Something I witnessed doing a show in the city on the weekend I had to share.

Scenes of Love

The band begins to play,
While I'm agonising over yet another old song,
Thinking, not this again, I lift my head
And begin to sing,
Casually glancing over the chattering crowd
I'm reluctantly vocalising something
About being under the boardwalk
When an elderly couple hit the dance floor
With the grace and passion of twenty year olds
They trip the light fantastic like pros
With such love and passion in their eyes
Quick steps and perfect timing
One could almost imagine them as newlyweds
Gazing lovingly into each others faces
The years passed insignificant, they dance
As they time warp back in my mind
I smile quietly to myself
True love is everlasting
I see it right in front of me
Swelling my heart with hope
The song ends, he kisses her hand
And we, the band applaud our audience
