written a while ago for a friend who was experiencing culture shock

Love and Fear

The wild heart pumps with a fervent glow
As the journey begins to let you know
Faith in expectation has closed its gate
Leaving just the mercy and beauty of fate
And the swirl takes over and over and over
You find your feet are miles from the ground
Yet the heart still burns while you ponder and learn
From the endless vignettes that abound
Then the heat of the sun or the chill of the snow
Will become vibrant and shivering clear
As you see no escape and you let yourself float
In the wondrousness of love and fear
