Bitter Coffee

I shall take my bitter coffee,
A circular and aromatic warmth;
Stretch and yawn,
Elongate myself in chill dawn.
The sun is a laser shaft,
Piercing from sky to sea,
I see you and me and us.

My feet are cold, so icy,
The sky so nice and blue
I could cry, be overwhelmed.
Pleasure and punishment,
My solitary blues enchew
And I smile at the absurdity
Or is it banality of it all?

I wander from kitchen to terrasse,
What makes solitude consume,
Perhaps it is because
I feel so full;
Once you could play a tune
On my ribs, now they are softer
My body feels more fluid,
I slip easily into places.

I sip to burn my throat,
Choke back emotions,
I am in mourning, yet jubilant
My feet are so cold
And my heart so warm,
I know how you sleep
I know how you keep
The circle of warmth
And I'll sip
When I'm done

We'll enjoy the sun together.
'Come to bed, darling'
A starling calls.
Coffee shall brew
And a new me shall rise.

Atmospheric and pensive. I enjoy the way you use internal and semi-rhymes that are so integral to the tone and form of the poem that they are barely susceptible. The coffee is bitter, but the moment is bittersweet.

And he will kiss those cold feet
and bring the springs warmth

Yes! sometimes the coffee is bitter
I drink it however it comes.

Smiling at you

"I am in mourning, yet jubilant"--lol, quite literally! I really enjoy this poem, here and elsewhere.
