Chasing buses

He says 'I love you'
it becomes almost perfunctory
I say 'I love you' back
and we laugh about
not chasing buses
once you've caught them.
Later, when we've made love,
he reaches out
and holds me so close
I feel his breath on my ear
and I'm glad
I caught this bus
and not the next one.

I love the analogies! AH, but it makes me think of all those folks that never got on the bus to start with, those poor folks that missed the bus.

Elle...your lovely love poem, I'm sure, will prompt all the
bus companies to raise their fares ...

Sometimes we luck out and the universe unfolds as we would want it to!! After all, if poetry is not emotion, what is it?
