Chasing buses
He says 'I love you'it becomes almost perfunctory
I say 'I love you' back
and we laugh about
not chasing buses
once you've caught them.
Later, when we've made love,
he reaches out
and holds me so close
I feel his breath on my ear
and I'm glad
I caught this bus
and not the next one.
