pure light in the silence

out here in the pure silence
I can hear my mind becoming quiet
although there is still a ring that I can not quell
a residue of the mechanical world behind me
falling into a dream at sunset
I wake two hours on
realising where I am
a candle powered hut
on the edge of a stony hill
the one that I will climb tomorrow
I'm here for the solitude
to realise how easy it is
to find bearable
in the unbearable feeling
of being alone
the sky shows me every star
in the blackest night devoid of city glow
I hadn't thought of this before driving out
only remembering as I wake from my dream
outside I feel closer to our galaxy
a milky belt dancing across my eyes
a dance that has been going on forever
I take a rug from the hut
so I can lay prone on the earth
and explore this star sprinkled canvas
that the universe has on show tonight
in the cool night I listen
the ring has gone
I'm not dead
but I'm in heaven
