*I am in a dark mood. This is part imagination merged with reality(my father, brother and grandmother's death factored in this expression....and then I think about my own.....death.

Death Bed

Holding her last breath,

adrenalized antique words

tasted tearfully bitter

as they bloated inside

her belly.

Serpentine smoke

spiraled

around her body

waiting for the death bite,

the consumated words resisted

as the unspoken ones awoke.

while dark clouds attempted

to grip them tight

as they stared at the demonic face

whose glaring evil always existed,

watching it fade until nothing was left,

still clinging to her prayers

as she let go of her last breath .

Dear melanie sue,

This is very moving piece, poignant and with a pace that is both menacing and serene.

Long may you live to write such powerful poetry!

Best wishes,

Chris

Somehow though mysteriously subtle, you seem to evoke in those lines a life that never ends with death nor does death ever ends... nicely written!

I love the way the lines undulate in this, like a last lingering trail... very clever.

With writing out your thoughts , Melanie Sue , it sets them free. I know my writing out my darkest thoughts . It is like letting off the pressure.
Your poem is powerful , well written , well exprest .
