From a private conversation
with an overseas friend
~L.~
I may never understand your pain
but I hope to carry some of your burden
like an umbrella to shelter you from rain
your silent cries, I heard them
My heart aches for all you're going through
like the elderly's old arthritic bones
I wish there was more that I could do
then just speak in poetic tones
For such a dear friend you are
and more help I wish to give you
as it's sad how dim now is your star
I want to make it shine less blue
About you I really care
please know I'll always be there.
