Hiding In The Joy

There's a lonely man inside of me
He does not often show.
That's because just knowing you
Has set my heart aglow.
But miles and life keep us apart
And that fact does annoy.
This lonely man behind the smiles
Is hiding in the joy.

He sometimes raises his ugly head,
Let's himself be known.
A sight that no one should see
And never should be shown.
Though his heart may be broken
A smile he does oft employ.
This lonely man behind the smiles
Is hiding in the joy.

So when you see a smiling man
It just may be he's down.
Seldom does anyone see
The tears of this clown.
Just as fake as fake can be,
Like turkey made of soy
This lonely man behind the smiles
Is hiding in the joy.
