stars & starts...
you are burning like a spinwheel
in the comets
to know if you are true
or not
i connected the dots
from your navel
to the crescent moon
back to Saturn
and the small Arkansas shaped birthmark
on your
left shoulder blade
you are more romantic than ever tonight
your haziness is the force multiplier
and your fragile wire fences
are crashing down daisies
crushed flower petals
pistons showing off their reckless stains
ursa major is a light switch this year
no one's going anywhere
except
to the best place
we've never been yet,
we're going there everyday
we'll play in the small stream that dissects
the front yard
from the rest of our lives
and it's okay to get a set of stars wet
because
the bravest gases continue to glow
when soaked to death.
we'll build a log cabin suitable for two
you'll accidentally burn it to the ground
with no one to care
around
riding matching huffy bicycles
through milkyways
you'll be so bright & shining
in black holes
we're walking down an aged dirt road
we're walking in the giant opaque forest
holding hands
hopping like hopscotch children
thru the loops
of the cursive word shadows
we always talked about
we're right here
right now and i realize
it's getting cool up there
& they want you back
i will give you back
when i am ready
i'm never ready,
i will never be ready
your skin is so close
your satellites so far away
i have just begun a journal for us
it's something like a bajillion pages
light years
and light years of this
