Never Too Old
Glistening hues of red, green and gold
Baubles and angels, some new some old
I wonder if the lights will still bring the joy
That they used to, now he's a teenage boy
It warms me to see his stubble lined face
Brighten as he puts the tinsel in place
Our hand made decorations show some wear
Tiny hands that created them no longer there
Now larger fingers place the candy canes
His smile shows no sign of growing pains
Despite the changes I see, as he sits next to me
Fourteen is not too old for a Christmas tree!
