Thoughts inspired by Annie Dillard.
beauty escapes an observer's eye
while another sees the diamond asking, why?
the bird's song shrill sweet in our ears
is a gem up high on the list
still beauty can be missed
we only know beauty as we perceive
and through this we've cause to believe
that beauty is owned, it's something to have
yet the birds sings on
as if nothing belongs
in the beauty of nature, eternity is ever present
and that present is the only gift we ever need
give it the complex curse of human greed
our songs become motionless
our world becomes ocean-less...
I'm with the bird
