For the babies of Haiti
Babies dying tonight.
heard across the seashore
screams veiled by fright.
It's a long lonely walk
Stumbling on barefoot feet.
Grandmother's tears have dried
Her heart stopped on the street.
Eyes glazed yellow-red
Dust covers his small head.
Fear escaped yesterday,
Only rocks for a bed.
No doctors for his pain,
His father gone away,
Who will share his sorrow,
when quaking shakes the bay?
