Stranger - a vignette

It was a tiny glance, that's all it took, to change
the day of stranger in a lonely town, no more the
frown, no more the gospel spelling its law to him.
It was just a smile, that's all it took, to unfold the
day in another way, to dispel the fear of no one-here;
it left him, with that smile. He walked the streets,
remained discreet, never once did ask for nothin',
yet he hoped, he always hoped, that somethin',
would come his way, on this day, as he walked the
town a stranger.
