Fruit

in a time of fruit more abundant
when the folks all danced and played
not a person was redundant
no one feared or felt betrayed
scepticism was a word not heard
nor anger greed or blight
only apples, quince and tangerines
in this mystical land of light
for when there was fruit aplenty
twas no need to make a count
offers never where there below twenty
people laughed, never cursed with doubt
walls and fences were not heard of
nor Pagan, Christ or Zen
and the symbol of life was a white dove
in this land of never end

Reminds me of "Imagine," but with a lighter touch. Let there be quince!

I love this. It's like a ball of happiness or a bowl of pawpaws or some such thing. Evokes a sense of a past that I never knew but secretly want to restore. Well done!
