For my granddaughter, as she nears five months old...

Little Lena (For My Granddaughter)

Little Lena feels her toes;
Learns how far her body goes.
Little Lena pulls her hair;
Learns who that must be up there!

Many lessons must be learned,
Lest we be severely burned.
Chief among these outs and ins:
Where we end and world begins.

Makes me think of when my sons were that age and I would ponder what the experience must be like from their perspective. Really enjoyed this poem as it made me smile. Congratulations on being a grand-father!

A fine tribute to the purity of youth.
Congrats on the poem, but more so on the granddaughter.

That's a tough call, I'd say. It's easier to declare this a very nice little poem.

Short, but oh so sweet, loved that line "learns how far her body goes."
