Two Wrongs

I could smile
Shrug it off
Blame it on your current dramas
Tell myself you didn't mean too...

I could be polite
Nod my head
Ignore what I know you've done
Chat about the weather.....

I could try
Lie like you
But it's not who I am inside, and you
Are not who I thought you were....

Hi Purp...
Once again your writing brings out the empathy
from your readers...It's a great talent that can
do that...

I like your stanza form, it seems natural, seems like the way we think about "could of's," mulling over the options before reaching the right conclusion.

As for chatting about the weather, I bet that was a non-starter.

I like this very much . . . the almost casual 'coulds', and then the damning indictment. Well done.
