Sweet Dreams
A chilly yet bright morning dawnedbringing with it hopes of warmth
yet as the afternoon passed onto evening
cold came creeping in
We were sitting on the steps
when we heard it's approaching footfalls
as a result we huddled closer together
penguins as some defined us
You complained of the cold
I wanted to put that right
but we were not alone
It was not the time to make the move
How hard is it to hide the truth,
especially when one has eyes around watching
and all I can do is inconspicuously
poke your side and watch you jump.
And now as I head for bed,
and you wish me sweet dreams
believe me all I can wish to dream of
Is my arm around you, shooing away the cold...
